Smriti's exit from Kynuki....

I have always taken inspiration from serials. The serials themselves are not bigger than characters that are portrayed. Some of the inspirational TV characters include - Saavi (Hasratein), Mrs. Verma (Shapath), Priya (Imtihan), Parvati (Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki), Tulsi (Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi), Shivani (Sailaab), Anand Mathur (Hum Paanch) and many more.

Smriti Irani (Tulsi) in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has exited from the 7 year old serial after playing 70 years old Tulsi character shocking everyone. Sometimes her overacting irritated me. Sometimes conviction of the character she essayed surprised me. U like it or not, u can't ignore Smriti. If anyone has seen her interview on CNN or Star World, the first point that comes to one's mind is her style of speech and her accent. She speaks very good British English and uses no words like "You see", "Yea", "You know", and many more which are used by any ordinary person or celebrity in an interview. She is one who is just not happy with acting and tried and came out of Tulsi image and people know her as Smriti also, not just as Tulsi.

She essayed the role of Beti, Bahu, Saas, Daadi and all best possible portraits of an ideal Indian women. The serial never had any logic and began with the solid assumption of showing indian values and lifestyle (but failed miserably). Smriti acted very well and beyond words. Her exit has given a sharp blow to Ekta's 1 serial's TRP which consistently stood for 7 years - a record in the Indian Television.

Smriti continues to portray many roles even off screen (an NGO activist, a politican, an actress). She will be missed and no one can replace her.
